Languages Other than English Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills

The State Board of Education (SBOE) has legislative authority to adopt the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for each subject of the required curriculum. SBOE members nominate educators, parents, business and industry representatives, and employers to serve on the review committees. This page provides information regarding the review and revision of the languages other than English (LOTE) TEKS adopted in 2014.

LOTE TEKS, Adopted 2014

The SBOE approved the revised TEKS for adoption in April 2014. The revised TEKS are available on the TEA rules page with “Adopted 2014” noted in the title (Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Title 19, Part II, Chapter 114. Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Languages Other than English).
