1. Work Session on Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) Review and Instructional Materials Adoption Cycle

This item provides an opportunity for the board to discuss the schedule for review and revision of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), the processes for review and streamlining of the TEKS, and the review and adoption cycle for instructional materials aligned to revised TEKS. Statutory authority is the Texas Education Code (TEC), §§7.102(c)(4), 28.002, 28.025, and 31.003.

 2. Update on Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) Review

This item provides the opportunity for staff to present an update on the review of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). The item also provides the opportunity for the board to take action regarding the processes for revision and streamlining of the TEKS. Statutory authority for this action is the Texas Education Code (TEC), §§7.102(c)(4), 28.002, and 28.025.

3. Selection of Board Members to Serve on the Long-Range Plan Steering Committee

This item provides the committee and board with the opportunity to: approve the selection of the board members who will serve on the Long-Range Plan Steering Committee; discuss the nomination and selection process for additional members of the steering committee and discuss next steps in the development of a Long-Range Plan for Public Education. Statutory authority for this action is the Texas Education Code (TEC), §7.102(c)(1).
