Jan-Feb 2017 Blue Ribbon Schools Resolution

WHEREAS the National Blue Ribbon Schools program recognizes elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels; and

WHEREAS a National Blue Ribbon Schools flag overhead is a mark of excellence in education; and

WHEREAS in 2016, Texas nominated 26 schools to be recognized for their students’ achievement; and

WHEREAS these 26 schools were then named 2016 National Blue Ribbon Schools by the United States Department of Education; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the State Board of Education does hereby extend its congratulations to Alief Early College High School and Kerr High School in the Alief Independent School District; to Cross Timbers Elementary School in the Azle Independent School District; to Leon Heights Elementary School in the Belton Independent School District; to Petronila Elementary School in the Bishop Consolidated Independent School District; to Borden County School in the Borden County Independent School District; and to Brownsville Early College High School in the Brownsville Independent School District; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the State Board of Education does hereby extend its congratulations to Rosemeade Elementary School in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District; to George Bannerman Dealey International Academy, George Bannerman Dealey Montessori Vanguard, and School of Health Professions at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center in the Dallas Independent School District; to Canterbury Elementary School and Norma Linda Treviño Elementary School in the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District; and to Young Women’s Leadership Academy in the Fort Worth Independent School District; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the State Board of Education does hereby extend its congratulations to Hillside Academy for Excellence in the Garland Independent School District; to Lovett Elementary School and Oak Forest Elementary School in the Houston Independent School District; to Margaret Talkington School for Young Women Leaders in the Lubbock Independent School District; to Tool Elementary School in the Malakoff Independent School District; and to Miles Elementary School in the Miles Independent School District; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the State Board of Education does hereby extend its congratulations to Panhandle Elementary School in the Panhandle Independent School District; to Pittsburg Intermediate School in the Pittsburg Independent School District; to Andrew Trautmann Elementary School in the United Independent School District; to Van Vleck Elementary School in the Van Vleck Independent School District; to Vista Del Futuro Charter School in the Burnham Wood Charter School District; and to Gus Winston Cain Elementary School in the Whitehouse Independent School District for being nominated by Texas and named by the United States Department of Education as National Blue Ribbon Schools; and be it further

RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the principals of the aforementioned schools for being recognized for excellence through the National Blue Ribbon Schools program and that a copy be included in the permanent records of the State Board of Education.
