Preparation and Continuing Education
Welcome to the Texas Education Agency's (TEA) home page for educator preparation. For general information for educator preparation programs and the Texas Administrative Code governing educator preparation programs, see General Program Information. Educators must meet high standards and be well-prepared to teach in the classrooms of this state.
Providing a quality education for all Texas children requires partnerships among TEA, educator preparation program providers, public and private schools, institutions of higher education and the community. The Texas Education Agency is committed to ensuring quality educator preparation programs that recruit and prepare qualified educators who meet the needs of all learners in today's and tomorrow's Texas classrooms.
All Continuing Professional Education (CPE) providers must be approved and registered by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) and Texas Education Agency. This registration ensures that activities offered for CPE credit support the professional growth of educators in the knowledge and skills necessary to improve student achievement in Texas public schools. Only those CPE activities from approved registered providers will be recognized for certificate renewal purposes
