Adopted State Board for Educator Certification Rules - Not Yet Effective

The State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) has adopted the following rule actions, and the State Board of Education (SBOE) has reviewed them as required by statute. The agency has filed these rule actions with the Texas Register, and they have effective dates in the future. Rule actions will remain on this page until their effective dates.

Adopted Repeal of and New 19 TAC Chapter 228, Requirements for Educator Preparation Programs
Summary: The adopted repeal of and new 19 TAC Chapter 228 reorganize the chapter to allow for improved readability; implement legislation; include technical updates to remove outdated provisions; incorporate components of the Effective Preparation Framework and provisions specific to the Residency Certificate; and reflect stakeholder feedback to further strengthen the rules. The rule actions are adopted with changes since published as proposed. Public comments were received on the proposal.
