Procedures to Petition for Adoption of State Board of Education Rule Changes

You may petition a state agency for the adoption of a rule or rule change according to the Administrative Procedure Act (Texas Government Code, §2001.021). The State Board of Education (SBOE) has adopted a rule that prescribes the form for a petition and the procedure for its submission, consideration, and disposition.

The procedure to petition for adoption of changes to SBOE rules is codified as 19 TAC §30.1.

You must sign the form and submit it to the TEA by mail to Texas Education Agency, 1701 North Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas 78701; or by email to rules@tea.texas.gov.
