Board Training Providers FAQ

At its November 2024 meeting, the State Board of Education adopted amendments to 19 TAC § 61.1 related to providers of school board training. The amendments—all of which become effective on August 25, 2025—include the following changes: 

  • Organizations cannot be designated as registered or authorized providers and can no longer issue credit for providing school board training
  • To qualify for approval as a registered or authorized provider, all applicants must be fingerprinted
  • To qualify for approval as a registered or authorized provider, all applicants must be college graduates
  • Individuals who have been convicted of a felony or crime of moral turpitude cannot become registered or authorized providers
