Recognizing the Month of the Military Child

In recognizing the courage of military families, Governor Greg Abbott proclaimed April as the Month of the Military Child. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is proud to join Gov. Abbott and the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) in spotlighting April as the Month of the Military Child.

In supporting the more than 80,000 military-connected students in Texas, TEA has worked closely with MCEC to provide military families across the state access to information regarding public education requirements and resources in Texas. To learn more about the education resources and programs available to students in military families, visit our Military Family Resources web page.

One of the ways we will be showing our support and appreciation for our military-connected students this year is by participating in Purple Up! For Military Kids Day on April 13. By wearing purple on this day, we can all display our commitment and unconditional support for our military families and their children.

I encourage you to join me in showing your gratitude for our military-connected students and their families, not only during the month of April but throughout the entire year.
