FCC Webinar on E-rate Temporary Provisions for Hurricane Impacted LEAs
November 10, 2017
To the Administrator Addressed:
Subject: FCC Webinar on E-rate Temporary Provisions for Hurricane Impacted LEAs
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Universal Services Administrative Company (USAC) will hold a special webinar on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. CST, to provide guidance to E-rate applicants affected by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and/or Maria. On October 30, 2017, the FCC released order FCC 17-139 authorizing applicants impacted by these hurricanes to apply for additional E-rate funding during a special filing window (Second FY17 Application Window). This special filing window will open on November 13, 2017 and will close on December 13, 2017. If your local education agency (LEA) was directly or indirectly impacted by the hurricanes, you may be eligible for additional funding. However, you must apply during the special filing window.
During this webinar, we anticipate the FCC and USAC, policy oversight and administrators of the E-rate program, will provide guidance and answer questions specifically related to this order.
To register for the webinar, please go to http://www.usac.org/sl/about/outreach/training/webinars.aspx. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) recommends that all LEAs located in the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) designated areas join this webinar. If you cannot participate in the live webinar, please register for the webinar so that the recording will be sent to you.
The FCC’s October 30th order can be accessed at http://transition.fcc.gov/Daily_Releases/Daily_Business/2017/db1030/FCC-17-139A1.pdf. Please read the order so you will be familiar with its contents during the webinar. Additional information is located in the USAC News Brief issued November 9, 2017 and the USAC Frequently Asked Questions.
