TO THE ADMINISTRATOR ADDRESSED

SUBJECT:  Pilot Teacher Surveys to Evaluate Texas Educator Preparation Programs

The purpose of this letter is to provide notice that the Texas Education Agency (TEA) will be collecting data from new teachers under a standard certificate, regarding the effectiveness of educator preparation programs (EPPs) in preparing them to succeed in the classroom.

Texas Education Code (TEC) §21.045 and Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Chapter 229, Accountability System for Educator Preparation Programs, require accountability standards for Texas EPPs.  Current State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) rules require each new teacher to complete a survey at the end of the first year of teaching. The information provided will assist in improving the educational experience for teacher candidates through EPPs.

Teachers can expect to receive an e-mail with the survey link on April 18, 2018.  The final date to submit the pilot teacher survey is June 15, 2018.  Participating teachers will earn 10 continuing professional education (CPE) credits after completing the survey.

Additional information is available on the Pilot Teacher Survey website:
