The U.S. Department of Education is offering a waiver to provide states with flexibility in administering the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) program during the 2020-2021 school year. Through this waiver, the statutory requirement for 21st CCLC services to be administered in non-school hours is waived, allowing campuses to provide in-person or remote 21st CCLC programming during the school day.

Current Cycle 9 and Cycle 10 21st CCLC grantees are eligible for this waiver, and all requirements beyond the out-of-school time requirement continue to apply to this grant.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) intends to apply for this waiver and is requesting public comment on the waiver prior to submitting the waiver application. Comments can be submitted to 21stcentury@tea.texas.gov by 5 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2020, by email.
