TO THE ADMINISTRATOR ADDRESSED (TAA):
Subject: Texas Student Data System (TSDS) PEIMS Crisis Code for Hurricane Irma and Fall PEIMS Snapshot Date
TSDS PEIMS Crisis Code for Hurricane Irma – All students enrolling in a school district or charter school as a result of being displaced by Hurricane Irma should be reported with a ‘Crisis Code’ of 06. This specific code indicates that a student came to Texas, after September 6, 2017, from a state of Florida county declared a disaster area because of Hurricane Irma, and the student enrolled in a Texas public school during the 2017-2018 school year. Those counties are: Brevard, Broward, Citrus, Charlotte, Collier, Clay, DeSoto, Duval, Flagler, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Indian River, Lake, Lee, Manatee, Marion, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Putnam, Sarasota, and St. Johns, St. Lucie, Seminole, Sumter, and Volusia.
Should additional resources become available, this information will be critical for impacted LEAs. As a reminder, all homeless students, as defined by McKinney-Vento, are eligible to be enrolled where they are living and must be reported through the LEA TSDS PEIMS data.
Please include these students in the weekly TSDS PEIMS submission of crisis code data.
Fall PEIMS Snapshot Date – The 2017-2018 Fall PEIMS Snapshot will remain as October 27, 2017. The first submission due date is December 7, 2017 and the resubmission due date is January 18, 2018. TEA will work with individual LEAs that have any issues with this timeline due to Hurricane Harvey.
