This communication is intended for districts affected by Tropical Storm Imelda. We recognize that the 2019-20 school-start window closes today (Friday, September 27, 2019) and, as a reminder, students served in the prior school year must return to school by the end of the school-start window to not be considered leavers.

Data sets from the class of 2019 four-year graduation rates, class of 2018 five-year graduation rates, class of 2017 six-year graduation rates, or 2018-19 annual dropout rates will be considered in the 2020 accountability system. Although we will not be extending the school-start window for districts affected by Tropical Storm Imelda, the commissioner of education will take this natural disaster into account when determining and assigning accountability ratings and award distinction designations. Guidance will be released during spring 2020 in the 2020 Accountability Manual. In the meantime, please make sure to follow your local processes to capture this documentation.
