Texas Education Agency Releases 2019 Annual Report
HB 3 Funding Improvements and Reforms are Increasing Opportunities for Texas Students & Teachers
AUSTIN, TX — January 29, 2020 – The Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced today the release of the 2019 Annual Report.
The annual report promotes the progress and advancements taking place in public schools and districts across Texas. It also serves as a helpful resource for illustrating areas where we as a state must continue to invest resources to ensure every student is prepared for success in college, a career, or the military.
The 2019 Annual Report focuses on areas of achievement based on the Agency’s Strategic Priorities:
• Recruit, Support, and Retain Teachers and Principals;
• Build a Foundation of Reading and Math;
• Connect High School to Career and College; and
• Improve Low Performing Schools.
A key highlight of TEA’s newest annual report pertains to the significant impact brought forth by the passage of House Bill 3 during the 86th Legislative Session. Thanks to this historic legislative achievement, Texas has seen an immediate increase in public school funding of $3.4 billion per year.
The funding and reforms provided via HB 3 will have a tremendous impact on the agency’s strategic plan to improve outcomes for the state’s nearly 5.5 million public school students.
