Program Evaluation: Early Childhood Education Programs

The Texas Legislature periodically requests that TEA conduct evaluations for Early Childhood Education programs funded through grants. The Texas Pre-Kindergarten Limited English Proficiency (Pre-K LEP) program and the School Readiness Integration Model (SRI) program were two past programs with required evaluations. The evaluation reports and executive summaries are available in PDF format from the links below.

Texas Pre-Kindergarten Limited English Proficiency

The Pre-K LEP program addressed the educational needs of LEP preschool students and was evaluated based on data collected during the 2008–09 school year. The Pre-K LEP program  provided opportunities for students to learn English while also supporting their first language by offering social services, specialized training, research-based class lessons, and supplies to enhance the development of both languages.

The SRI Model was an early childhood education program that coordinated prekindergarten resources between public school districts, Head Start programs, and child care providers. The purposes of the SRI program were to prepare all children to enter kindergarten on or above grade level and to do so in ways that best served each community’s needs.
