Foster Care & Student Success Resource Guide
Each of the 11 DFPS (Department of Family and Protective Services) regions has at least one Education Specialist. These specialists serve as education consultants and provide assistance to DFPS staff, school staff, and external stakeholders on education issues related to children and youth in foster care. The DFPS Region 3, Dallas/Fort Worth area and DFPS Region 6, Houston area, have two Regional Education Specialists. Educators may work with DFPS Education Specialists in the school setting on behalf of students in foster care.
